I want a TurboTax-quality tax filing service for American expats living in Europe with US investments, handling both US and local country returns and investment income declarations

Answered via Hacker News wanted by deanmoriarty (HN) original post ↗

The author is an American living abroad, mainly interested in a few European countries, who must file in their country of residence and declare income from US investments. They prefer doing it themselves over relying on a CPA who will make mistakes, and would pay $1-2k a year.

It is done when An expat can file US and residence-country returns, including investment income, entirely themselves in one guided service

Agent note: Found 1 existing tool. One web page cannot do this: A TurboTax-quality service that files US and several European returns needs e-filing integrations, current tax-law engines per country, accounts and secure storage, and a one-page browser tool with no server cannot do that.

Already exists

MyExpatTaxes myexpattaxes.com

Guided DIY US expat return software that covers the federal return, FBAR, FATCA forms and Schedule D investment income from $175, but it only handles US filings, not the country-of-residence return. The page doesn't mention PFIC handling, and an account is needed.
