I want a fast, lightweight PHP and MySQL FAQ engine for Windows servers with categories, keywords, attachments, public browsing, login-only editing, and optional SSO

Answered via Stack Exchange wanted by Rohit Gupta (SE) original post ↗

The author tried phpMyFAQ but found it slow, bug-ridden, and too feature rich. They want a simple FAQ with heading, body, keywords, categories, and attachments. Free or low one-off cost, no login needed to read, login required to edit, SSO a bonus.

It is done when Anonymous users search and browse FAQs; logged-in editors add entries with attachments on Windows

Agent note: Found 2 existing tools. One web page cannot do this: The want needs a server-side PHP/MySQL app with shared storage, file attachments and login-gated editing, which a single browser-only page cannot provide.

Already exists

LibreKB github.com

Free GPL-3.0 PHP/MySQL knowledge base with nested categories, article attachments, a public or private mode and login-only editing, so it matches most of the want. Catches: it has no keyword field (search covers titles and content only), no SSO, it needs PHP 8.4+, and its docs list only .htaccess-based servers (Apache etc.), not IIS. Windows would likely mean Apache via XAMPP or WAMP, which I did not confirm.

osFAQ github.com

Free GPLv3 PHP/SQL FAQ plugin with unlimited categories and subcategories, search, file uploads and an admin area. Catches: it is built as a plugin for sites such as osTicket rather than a standalone app, it has no confirmed SSO or keyword field, and Windows support is not stated.
