I want a way to access contacts, calendar events, and bookmarks as plain files in a filesystem, synced with ordinary file sync tools
The author wants personal information manager data exposed as semi-structured files, with YAML preferred, so regular file synchronization can handle it. They also want to add arbitrary notes and custom fields to any entry.

Free CLI address book that keeps contacts as local vCard files, so it covers contacts only, not YAML, events or bookmarks, and its own README warns about vCard compatibility problems when syncing with Android or iOS.

Free terminal calendar that stores events as one .ics file each in a vdir folder, so it covers events only, uses iCalendar rather than YAML, has no Windows support, and the vdirsyncer docs say syncing the folders with generic file-sync tools can create duplicate UIDs.
YAML PIM
In Chrome or Edge, it opens your synced folder and keeps contacts/, events/ and bookmarks/ as editable .yaml files. Custom fields and notes are kept on every save, and it warns you when a file has changed on disk. Browsers block folder access inside embedded pages, so use 'Download this tool' and open the saved file in Chrome or Edge for direct folder editing; in any browser, Export and Import zip work with the same folder layout.
